Roulette is the most famous of all casino games and is featured in all the casino movies. It is a game of glamour and fortune. Although the online casino versions of the game are unable to offer all the glamour of live casino roulette, they do not do too bad a job and are great fun to play and can be very immersive. Here we will look at some of the basics of the online version of the game.

Roulette, despite its apparent complexity, is a simple gambling game in which you are betting on the position where the ball will end up. In the European version of the game there are 37 possible positions (the numbers 0 to 36) and in the American version there are 38 (the numbers 0 to 37) – go to onlinecasino.org and find more on this.

The player bets on a specific number or group of numbers, on whether the number will be odd or even, or whether it will be a red or a black number. After all the bets have been placed the roulette wheel is spun and the ball is launched. Once the ball comes to a rest its value and colour is announced by the croupier and all the bets are settled.

A number of betting combinations are available. These are:

o straight – where a bet is placed on a single number; pays 35 to 1
o split – where bet is placed on a line between two numbers; pays 17 to 1
o trio – where bet is placed at intersection between three numbers; pays 11 to 1
o street – where bet is placed at end of a row of numbers; pays 11 to 1
o corner – where bet is placed on the corner where four numbers come together; pays 8 to 1
o line – where bet is placed at the end of two streets; pays 5 to 1
o dozen – where bet is placed in boxes marked 1st 12, 2nd 12 and 3rd 12; pays 2 to 1
o column – where you bet on columns of 12 numbers; pays 2 to 1
o low/high – where you bet on 1 to 18 or 19 to 36; pays 1 to 1
o red/black- where you bet on a black or red number; pays 1 to 1
o odd/even where you bet on an odd or even number. Pays 1 to 1
